On March 12, 1812, the Pépin and Breschard circus touring Eastern Canada performs in Montreal. The broadside advertisement for the circus, reproduced below from the National Library of Canada, is one of the oldest known circus broadsides to be printed in Canada. Some of the attractions at the circus include Mameluke maneuvers with eight Turks, ground and lofty horse tumbling by Madam Redon on one horse, scenes from the "much admired" Candadien Peasant and Drunken Soldier by Cayetano Mariotini, and tight rope performances.
